GP Trainees and First5 Doctors

Newly qualified GPs/ First5 doctors

Starting out as a newly qualified GP (NQGP) is exciting – the start of a stimulating and rewarding career. But it can also be tough. What should be the beginning of an inspirational and fulfilling journey can be tainted by clinical uncertainty, time pressures and a lack of sense of direction.

The LMC has created a guide as a point of reference for when you finish your GP training and are about to qualify as a GP.  (attachment to follow)

GP carer support pack

As part of GP retention efforts, NHS England, RCGP and the BMA have developed a GP Career Support Pack that sets out support available at different stages of a GP’s career (e.g. first five, mid-career, nearing retirement, taking a career break and / or needing extra support). The pack is intended to signpost GPs to support available throughout their career with a view to supporting their career and life choices.
