Following a consultation with the Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC), employer pension contributions will rise from 14.3% to 20.6%. The UK government has agreed to provide funding to fully cover the these increased pensions costs for NHS employers.
For this current financial year, NHS Business Services Authority will continue to collect a contribution of 14.3% from employers with the remaining 6.3% being paid centrally by NHSE and the DHSC. From April 2020, there is an expectation that this extra funding will go into the global sum but this is yet to be confirmed.
