The aim of today’s talk is to examine the unique features of facial skin and the common conditions which cause facial erythema. I will cover the clinical features and management of inflammatory skin diseases – acne rosacea, perioral dermatitis, seborrhoeic and atopic dermatitis. I will also discuss contact dermatitis, photosensitivity disorders and how the facial skin can be affected in systemic disease.

Dr Ruth Boreland
I qualified as a Doctor from Queens University Belfast in 2005 and completed my GP training in 2010. While working as a GP locum I completed my Cardiff Diploma in Dermatology followed by the Diploma in Dermoscopy. Previously I worked as a GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) in Dermatology in the Southern Trust. Currently I am a GP Partner in the Western Trust and I work as a GPwSI in Dermatology in Altnagelvin Hospital. I also provide Community Dermatology clinics through the GP Elective Care Service (GPECS).
