The practices throughout Lancashire and Cumbria have had to cope with unprecedented widespread disruption as they were subject to the cyber-attack.
Even those practices that did not have any computers disabled by the virus were forced to shut down their computer systems as a precaution and could not communicate with the rest of the NHS.
We just wanted to place on record the tremendous effort that practices have put in to maintain services to patients and get systems up and running as quickly as possible. It is also a tribute to many staff in CCGs and IT Support Units in pulling all the stops out to minimise the disruption and get computers and systems back in action again.
The LMC is here to offer support to practices in the aftermath of this attack and to consider the impact that this may have on your routine work. If you feel that special consideration is required on your ability to cope with the backlog of work, whether it is patient demand or QOF / Enhanced service work please let us know.
