Bay Medical Group is proud to be the general practice serving the population of Morecambe and Heysham. We operate out of 5 sites across the local area and deliver general medical services to c54,000 patients. Formed in 2016/17 by established legacy practices in the town, we are fortunate to be a single at scale provider in a distinct geographical area and as such were able to establish the Primary Care Network (PCN) for Morecambe and Heysham in July 2019, with Bay Medical Group as the only Practice in the PCN. 

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We have been successfully diversifying our workforce over the past few years and developing pathways which enable our patients to see the right person, at the right time in the right place. As a Practice and PCN we work closely with our Integrated Care Community and other local health, social care and third sector providers to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population. Our Vision is to provide excellent care for the people of our local community and to support our staff in the delivery of services which enable both staff and patients to be healthier and happier. 

The values and behaviours below have been identified by our Practice team as important to our Practice ethos BMG/ Bay PCN continues to grow and we are now seeking a salaried GP and new GP partners to join our team. Our scale means that we can support diverse career aspirations and opportunities across all teams. Yet, we maintain a smaller practice feel by promoting site-based working so that you have the chance to develop relationships with the site team and with your patients. 

Bay Medical Group provides a new model of primary care that is equipped to respond to and embrace the challenges presented by the GP Forward View and is actively involved in the local health economy. In July 2019, we established Bay Primary Care Network as the sole Practice in the PCN. We work closely with our Integrated Care Community We are friendly, welcoming practice, constantly looking to improve our offer to both the local community and our colleagues. We are focussed on the wellbeing of our team have been recently been working with MIND to ensure a supportive environment for all team members and received a Bronze award in 2021. There are also opportunities to socialise together and we are sure that you will find like-minded people here who enjoy a variety of hobbies and interests outside of work. 

The offer includes: 

• A mix of 15 minute and 10 minute appointments to enable you to manage your workload appropriately for continuity of care 

• GMS practice offering the BMA model contract 

• Varied workload through a mix of working in routine surgeries and Unscheduled Care. 

• Peer support and a planned educational programme for GP’s, nurses and pharmacists including the First Five group specifically formed to support newly and recently qualified GP’s 

• We are a teaching practice working closely with the Deanery and local universities to support GP training and student nurse placements. 

• A large supportive team including back office teams, Practice Nurses, Medicines Management team including pharmacists, Advanced Care Practitioners, Physician Associates, Mental Health Practitioners, Dietitian, , First contact Practitioners and Patient Advisors, which will allow you to focus on what you do best. 

• Excellent long-term career and development prospects. 

• Holistic approach to care through close working relationships with the extended Primary Care Health Team including in-house physio appointments, Long Term Conditions Team and District Nurses. 

• A designated clinician visit team staff by dedicated GPs, ACPs and palliative care nurse 

• A dedicated ICC team including Care Co-ordinators, Health coaches and Social Prescribers and well developed links with voluntary sector organisations.
