Salaried GP/GP Partner - Upper Eden Medical Practice

Due to upcoming retirements, we’re currently looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and self-motivated GP to join our friendly team at the Upper Eden Medical Practice in Kirkby Stephen. Ideally we’re looking for 6 sessions, however, anything from 4 to 8 sessions per week would be considered. 

At the Upper Eden Medical Practice we have a genuine, family orientated approach to our patients and we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional quality of care. With a list size of 6700 patients, we all enjoy the rewards and recognition that comes from really knowing our patients and you could contribute in making our practice even better! We encourage special interests and we will always support you to ensure that you maintain professional stimulus as well as your own personal development. We’re also a training practice, and we’re keen to encourage new GP’s to embrace and promote our values and high standard of patient care. The beautiful Eden Valley around the River Eden is a mix of lush green countryside, traditional towns and attractive sandstone villages. Surrounded by this spectacular scenery, the ancient market town of Kirkby Stephen in the Upper Eden Valley is an inviting prospect for anyone who loves the outdoor life and would appreciate the benefits of living in one of the most scenic locations in England. We have excellent schools and Kirkby Stephen also has the added benefit of being only 10 minutes from the M6 and West Coast mainline railway, so you can reach the likes of Manchester and Newcastle with ease! I joined the Upper Eden Practice for a short term contract in early 2019. I had been previously working in rural Scotland for a number of years so was a bit apprehensive about working back in a busy English practice. I needn’t have worried!! The practice is wonderful! The GP’s are very friendly with a mass of varied experience between them. The nursing, reception, secretarial, management and pharmacy teams are just lovely. So supportive and happy to help with any queries (which I had a great deal of, working with a new prescribing system and never having used EMIS web before!). The patients were so welcoming and having 15 minute appointments meant I felt I could really get to know them and provide a good service to them. This is a job where you can really enjoy being a GP, in a stunning setting with friendly and resilient patients and great colleagues. Since retiring from a local rural practice I have been a very regular locum at Kirkby Stephen for the last 9 years.
