The Castle Medical Group is a vibrant, friendly, semi-rural practice based in the market town of Clitheroe in the beautiful Ribble Valley. We are a dispensing and teaching practice judged outstanding since January 2016 by the CQC and consistently achieving maximum QOF points. Our list of 15,150 patients is cared for by seven GP partners, four salaried GPs, four ANPs and a nursing team of eight, supported by our admin and reception teams. We have a balanced mix of male and female practitioners. We are looking to welcome an enthusiastic colleague with excellent clinical skills and a willingness to be involved in the business. We are flexible regarding the number of sessions worked but imagine this would be between five and seven. We also offer generous holiday and study leave allowances, along with support for professional development and interests. We have a school holiday rota that ensures a fair allocation to allow everyone time to spend with their families. Clitheroe is served by superb local schools. The town is nestled beside the Forest of Bowland, a very special Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We place a strong emphasis on face-to-face consultations but offer a flexible mix of face-to-face, video and telephone consultations for our patients. We run personal lists but also have excellent systems for providing continuity of care covering each other. You will join our team, have your own list of patients, and take part in the on-call rota. We offer a comprehensive induction period plus ongoing support and mentoring as needed, alongside regular clinical and business meetings where we all come together. We are a close-knit friendly practice. We have regular weekly clinical meetings. These are an opportunity for all clinicians to meet and discuss for example complex patients, guidelines, significant events, palliative care, safeguarding, strategies and systems. Our practice is one of four in the Ribbledale Primary Care Network which supports a total population of 42,500 patients. We have an excellent working relationship with our neighbouring PCN colleagues and employ additional staff across the practices such as first contact physiotherapists, a mental health worker, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, paramedics, and social prescribers.

We very much welcome informal enquiries from either newly qualified or experienced GPs - we would love to meet you.
