First 5 Mentorship Programme

The term ‘First 5’ was established by RCGP to support GPs in the five years after qualifying.  

The Local Medical Committee plan to establish a Mentorship Programme to offer First 5 GPs, from across Lancashire and Cumbria, the opportunity to speak to a colleague if needed. We have been told this group of GPs feel they lack in support and are under a lot of pressure. Therefore, the Mentorship Programme is aimed to increase First 5 GPs self-confidence, allow them to feel more valued and discuss any issues confidentially.  

Accessing a Mentor will be free and confidential. We will allocate a Mentor to a Mentee depending on the preferences of the mentee.  

First 5s or GPs wanting to be a mentor can contact Mariah in the LMC office.
