A two-day course that is highly recommended to beginners to learn the basics in minor surgery skills.

This course has been specifically designed to ensure practitioners meet the requirements of the 2014 DES Minor Surgery Contract and has been approved by NHS England formulated from the latest NHS e-guidelines to do so.

This highly practical and interactive course also features the Direct Observations of Procedural Skills (DOPS) Assessment (required by NHS England for all GPs applying to practise minor surgery in England).

This course counts as CPD and also provides supporting information for revalidation. All participants will receive a bound copy of the course lectures and presentations a text book to help aid learning and a certificate on completion.

Our popular minor surgery courses use state of the art models, instruments and stimulated tissues to give full hands on training and theoretical sessions.

Topics include: Preparation and planning; instruments materials and sterilisation; local anaesthesia; basic surgical technique; epidermal cysts and abscesses; snip, scrape and shave lesions; pigmented lesions; cryosurgery; joint injection techniques and skin cancer.

THE USE OF PORK 

Please note for suture practice we will be using pork belly, as trainers have advised that this is the closest replica to human skin. If you do not wish to work with pork for religious or personal reasons, please let us know no later than 2 weeks before the event date and an alternative will be provided.
