We are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our dynamic and supportive general practice team. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced primary care setting. The post is full time/ Part time; depending on experience 

Key Responsibilities: Assess, diagnose, and treat a range of acute and chronic conditions. Prescribe medications within your scope of practice. Work collaboratively with GPs and nursing staff to provide comprehensive care. Manage patient caseloads and follow-up care. Promote health education and disease prevention. 

Essential Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) with NMC registration. Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification (including prescribing rights). Significant clinical experience, ideally in primary care. Excellent clinical, communication, and decision-making skills. 

Desirable: Experience in chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma). Proficiency with electronic patient record systems (e.g., EMIS Web). Why Join Us? A supportive and friendly team. Main duties of the job: An Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) is a registered nurse with advanced education and clinical training who provides high-quality care in a variety of healthcare settings. 

Key duties include: Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive physical exams, take detailed medical histories, and order diagnostic tests to assess patients' health conditions. 

Treatment and Management: Develop and implement care plans, prescribe medications, and provide treatment for acute and chronic conditions. ANPs may also manage and follow up on ongoing care. 

Clinical Decision-Making: Make autonomous clinical decisions, interpreting diagnostic results and adjusting treatment plans as necessary. 

Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care. 

Health Promotion and Education: Educate patients and their families about disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and self-management techniques. 

Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Engage in ongoing education and research to ensure that clinical practice aligns with the latest evidence and standards of care. 

Leadership and Mentoring: Provide leadership within healthcare teams and mentor trainees and less-experienced staff. Actively contribute to clinical meetings and collaboratively work with team to achieve high quality indicators and targets to improve health of practice population. 

All ANPs with prior experience working in primary care settings, practicing independently but as part of a collaborative care team are welcome to apply for this post. 

About us 

William Hopwood Surgery is a single sited teaching GP Practice with its own car park located in a quiet street in the heart of Blackburn. We currently provide care for over 5300 registered patients. The team is made up of 2 GP partners, a salaried GP, Regular locum GPs, Physician Associate, practice pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, a nursing team including HCA, apart from a team of care navigators, admin/ quality lead/secretarial team members and practice manager.
