William Hopwood Surgery is looking to recruit an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team. We pride ourselves in proving a high standard of care in a supportive environment delivering a patient focussed service. We are looking for a highly motivated/ enthusiastic individual with experience of working in primary or secondary care to work alongside and support the existing team. The job role is a part time position.
The main duties of the role include:
- Phlebotomy
- Urinalysis
- Blood pressure recording
- Assist with chronic disease reviews such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD
- Carrying out NHS health checks, Frailty assessments
- Ensuring all GP rooms are fully stocked
- Smoking cessation advice
- Immunisations (Flu, B12 injections)
- Educate patients about their health and wellbeing so that they can develop their knowledge and understanding empowering them to be as self-managing as possible.
- Opportunistically record QOF related information within skill set
You will work alongside the existing nursing team to ensure: Stock levels are maintained by ordering, rotation and sorting deliveries. Identifying the best places to purchase stocks and dealing with suppliers. Completion of cleanliness, infection prevention control measures and health and safety requirement of the role. Doctors are supported in their clinics. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all patients. (This list is not exhaustive.)
Job description
The successful candidate must cover General Practice HCA duties and assistance whilst delivering the highest level of care and assistance. Duties will include but are not limited to: Phlebotomy, Assisting with long term conditions clinics such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, NHS Health Checks, Frailty assessment, Flu and Pneumonia and other seasonal vaccinations, Smoking Cessation checks, B12 injections, Ordering nursing stock and equipment, Precise and accurate recording on patient records, You will work alongside the existing nursing team to ensure: Stock levels are maintained by ordering, rotation and sorting deliveries. Identifying the best places to purchase stocks and dealing with suppliers. Completion of cleanliness, infection prevention control measures and health and safety requirement of the role. Doctors are supported in their clinics. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all patients. This list is not exhaustive.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• Care Certificate
• Medical administration (1 year) Desirable
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
• EMIS knowledge Disclosure and Barring Service Check
