PCN Pharmacy Technician Queen Square Medical Practice, Lancaster

Queen Square is a proudly independent, innovative, friendly 15,000 patient research active practice. We have a dynamic team of doctors; practitioners (nurse/pharmacist & paramedic) supported by an excellent nurse/admin and management team. 

Job Overview 

We are looking to recruit a Pharmacy Technician to join our Medicines Management Team. You will need to be qualified to at least NVQ level 3 and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, have relevant experience with excellent communication skills, a can do attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team. The available post can be full or part-time, ideally a minimum of 30 hours across 4-5 days. 

You will be joining our existing medicines management team. 

You will undertake a valuable, respected role at Queen Square. Patient care is at the core of our ethos and service. 

You will support the Medicines Team to deliver the Medicines Management Agenda within the practice. 

The purpose of the role is to make improvements to maximise safe, cost effective, best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will switch medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in general practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines. The post holder will also liaise with nursing homes and community staff. 

In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development and understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. This will involve assisting the Medicines Management Team in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives. 

You will use your judgement, resourcefulness and common sense and demonstrate flexibility when required.
