This RCGP course has been specifically designed to ensure experienced practitioners meet the requirements of the 2014 DES Minor Surgery Contract. It has been approved by NHS England and formulated in line with the latest NHS e-guidelines.
This highly practical and interactive course also includes the Direct Observations of Procedural Skills (DOPS) Assessment, which is required by NHS England for all GPs who are already practising and seeking re-accreditation to continue performing minor surgery in England—unless they carry out more than 100 minor surgery procedures per year.
To continue practising minor surgery, the NHS requires GPs to attend an update course such as this every three years. Aimed at experienced GPs providing minor skin surgery, this course serves as a refresher and is considered to be of high quality and relevance for general practitioners' CPD revalidation and DOPS assessment needs.
THE USE OF PORK
Please note for suture practice we will be using pork belly, as trainers have advised that this is the closest replica to human skin. If you do not wish to work with pork for religious or personal reasons, please let us know no later than 2 weeks before the event date and an alternative will be provided.
