Mediation Service for GP Partnerships

Independent, confidential mediation supporting GP partners to resolve conflict, improve communication and agree a way forward.

The LMC offers a specialist mediation service designed specifically for GP partnerships .The service provides a safe, neutral space for partners to address difficult issues, rebuild working relationships and prevent escalation into formal disputes.

Who the service is for

This service is available to:

  • GP partnerships within general practice

Mediation may be helpful where there is:

  • Disagreement between GP partners
  • Breakdown in communication or trust
  • Long-standing or complex partnership issues
  • Difficult conversations around roles, workload, finance or future planning

What mediation offers

Mediation supports partners to have constructive conversations, understand different perspectives and agree practical next steps.

How it works

Each mediation is tailored to the partnership, but usually includes:

  • Individual discussions with each GP partner
  • A joint mediation meeting
  • A written Settlement Agreement or Summary of Understanding, where agreement is reached.

Confidentiality

Mediation is confidential. Information shared will not be disclosed outside of the process except where legally required (for example, safeguarding or risk of harm).

The mediator is independent and impartial, does not impose outcomes, and will not attend court, tribunal or other formal proceedings relating to the mediation.

Fees

  • £3,500 flat fee for mediation involving up to four GP partners
  • £350 per additional partner
  • Includes up to 8 hours of the mediation meeting
  • All preparation and pre-meeting correspondence included
