GP Receptionist / Administrator 

Dr Dawoud's Surgery Hours: 25 hours per week over 3 days 

Salary: Dependent on experience 

Dr Dawoud's Surgery is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic GP Receptionist/Administrator to join our friendly and busy practice team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual with previous GP surgery experience who is passionate about providing outstanding patient care and administrative support. 

Essential Requirements 

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a GP surgery 
  • Excellent knowledge of GP practice systems and procedures 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Competent in handling confidential patient information 
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Experience using GP clinical systems EMIS Web 

Main Duties/Reception Duties:

  • Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice in a professional and courteous manner 
  • Managing incoming telephone calls and patient enquiries Booking, amending and cancelling appointments 
  • Signposting patients to the most appropriate service 
  • Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures 
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times 

Administration Duties 

  • Processing patient registrations and deductions 
  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, letters and clinical documents 
  • Scanning, coding and filing patient records and correspondence accurately 
  • Processing referrals and supporting clinicians with referral administration 
  • Managing workflow tasks and actioning documents on clinical systems 
  • Handling requests for medical records, insurance reports and subject access requests
  • Updating and maintaining accurate patient information on the clinical system 
  • Supporting recall programmes, including invitations for reviews, screening and vaccinations 
  • Assisting with QOF and enhanced service administration where required 
  • Preparing and distributing practice communications and patient letters 
  • Liaising with hospitals, community services and external healthcare organisations 
  • General office administration, including filing, photocopying and document management
